CyberStampers On-Line Convention

Tonight's the beginning of the CyberStampers On-Line Convention and the opening party is at 9:00 eastern time. The schedule if Classes and Events is at: http://www.cyberstampers.com/schedule.html

On Saturday at 8 pm Eastern time a class calles "Evo Does ATC's" looks interesting

Cyberstampers Convention main link won't be up reportedly until "opening" time so I've nothing to report as of the last time I looked. Anyone who checks after 9PM Eastern could use the comments area to tell us what you see if you like.

Word is that to join the on-line chats and classes, you need the MIRC program and instructions about this is  at the top of the Schedule page.

Does Your Artwork Make you Queasy?

My studio is a mess! I used to be so good about putting everything I had used on a finished project away. I probably have way too much stuff because a lot of the problem is I don't know where to put it so it may be found again.  So many categories!

Searching for something I needed and had put away, I was stumped as to what category I might have assigned it.....so, I conducted what I thought was a thorough search...looking in each plastic drawer no matter how it was marked. I took out more things which I'd forgotten I owned, adding them to my packed work table. Before I finished, I had totally forgotten what I was looking for!  (I must confess, I haven't missed the whatever it was.)

What I did find was my unfinished journal about the 1960's woman which I had started several years ago. Since I had collected much material for it in those years, I took it out to place it on my "to finish" stack.  While thinking about just when I might have the time to finish it, I idly looked through it, and felt queasy.

It was AWFUL! Other than following the belief that more is better, I had obviously forgotten everything I once knew about design....Or, did I think that it didn't matter? The cleverness of today's paper artist can never cover up a total lack of attention to good design. My journal is beyond easy salvage, but it has taught me a valuable lesson.

If you want to be an artist, you have to know and apply the principles of design and color.
If you want to be a good craftsperson, you have to know and apply principles of design and color.

With this in mind, I hope to empower others who may be struggling, or just vaguely dissatisfied with their work. My online class starts June 9th!

Creative Mavens - Retreats

Soul Creative Retreats, held in Desert Hot Springs outside Palm Springs California have a number of very tempting treats on the menu in the upcoming months.

Swoon! I'll admit that I'd love to get a ticket with the name: Susan Reynolds on it! Heart3

Here's what they say about themselves (which sounds like heaven to me):

SOUL CREATIVE RETREATS encourage you to take nurturing time for yourself. We believe that you should take quiet time and space for renewing your creative spirit. We offer insightful, empowering life tools through experiential hands-on exercises throughout the Retreat.

We wrap you in a cocoon of loving, friendly, supportive creative nurturing. After your exciting creative days, we invite you to join in for relaxing yoga, guided meditations or soak in the healing mineral waters exclusive to Desert Hot Springs.

Or, you may choose to book your own private bodywork therapy session at Miracle Springs Resort and Spa which includes choices of massage, facials, body polishes, aromatherapy, and more.

Maybe we should bring the Mavens who run this retreat to our Artsy Asylum, even if it's only in a virtual sense.
