This piece is currently unmounted. This means that it does not have to be adapted if you do not want to add brooch back. It will be floated on a special archival mount to fit a 5 by 7 inch frame

Each piece will be signed by the artist before being carefully packaged and mailed to the purchaser to adorn you or your frame.

About Mixed Media

My Mixed Media Art Pieces most often incorporate handmade papers - handpainted papers, metals - wood and other organic pieces - fibers - metallic threads - glass beads and wire - plus my signature touches of subtle metallic and iridescent glimmer taken from my large works on paper.
Handmade beads - stones - glass - fabric - film - and the odd found object often make their way into the work as it develops.
When the art appears in wearable form the pieces are provided with a pin back. Other pieces are mounted archivally.
When not worn, clients often mount even the wearable pieces in shadowbox frames for wall display.
Protected with a unique glazing process, chosen for the specific material of the piece, each art work is signed by the artist before being carefully packaged and mailed to the purchaser to adorn you, your giftee, or your favorite frame.

Mixed Media Pricing

-Priced starting at $45 for small quirky pieces and $73 for fine art pieces, wearable and frame-able mixed media pieces do not include matting or framing unless stated.
- If you prefer a wearable piece modified to remove pin back please let me know. I will be glad to adapt it to an archival mounted format designed to fit a standard 5 by 7 inch frame at no charge.
-Simple or complex art background designs based on the the individual piece you select can be created as well. Specialty mounting and mat will add between $50 and $200 to your cost depending on complexity and materials.

Geting It There

Shipping
I like the USPS Priority Mail for many reasons, so that's what I use to send art to new homes.
Because I am unable to work every day, please allow 7 to 10 days for preparation and personal attention to packaging and shipping.
We will email you a confirmation when your piece is shipped, and will include a tracking number so you can watch as it gets closer.

About My Cancer

Invasive Lobular Carcinoma
My form of breast cancer is less common than others. In fact only about 6 to 8% of cases of breast cancer are the invasive form that is based in the lobules, not in the milk ducts.
Invasive, sometimes called Infiltrating, is a scary word. In most cases this form of breast cancer has been present for 8–10 years when detected by a mammogram or physical exam.
In my case there was clearly an area that felt thickened or dense on December 6, 2007. A mammogram the next afternoon was not able to detect it but it clearly appeared on ultrasound and was confirmed by multiple biopsies the same day.
During those 8 to 10 years the cancer took to become apparent to me, there has been plenty of opportunity for those invasive cells to get out of the breast and spread to the rest of the body.
It is after all, by definition, an invasive form of cancer.
Each year about 190 thousand women are diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the US and about 40 thousand women will die of the disease. The larger the mass is when discovered the more risk. Mine had tentacled almost 5cm into the surrounding tissue and two other areas in the breast were discovered as well.
My chances of living another 10 years without cancer in another area are about 40%. The likelihood of one of my other underlying health conditions doing the job before that is 20%. it took a few months to get used to that idea.
Now though my attitude is that at least I know what I'm facing. It's just not what I expected. Life changes in an instant.

It could look a tad different
Art, like anything else, looks different in various lighting. When it arrives at your door it may appear slightly different from what your monitor shows.
But you know - it's art . . what you think is stunning won't be the same as the next guy. And let's not talk about your husband's taste because mine used to be that guy when I met him.
If for any reason you are not happy with colors, size or the look of the piece (of course I think you'll love it) let us know and we'll offer a refund, exchange, or other happy solution.
