A Twisted Version of Connect Five - Summer of Projects
Without bringing my network along to a new form of communication, some of us will be beached, stranded, or set adrift without an efficient, workable way to keep in touch
Chris Brogan is - among other things - famous for his mission to connect people to the kind of new media that works for them. In this vein he has challenged his community of readers to personally introduce five people to a specific blog, podcast or video blog that fits their interests.
Be it new blog readers, new vlog viewers or new podcast listeners, we can all use them. So I'm behind his effort all the way. I'd be thrilled if my readers introduced the Case Notes from the Artsy Asylum blog to new readers this week, or any week for that matter.
I've gotten a bit away from Chris' suggested focus in my effort to participate in the project however. Since I’m hopelessly overwhelmed with email I'm taking this opportunity to introduce some of the people in my poor abandoned email address book to facebook as a way to keep in touch.
The beauty of it is that facebook lets people log in whenever they want to - once a day - once a week - or whenever - and add a few lines about what they're up to. This automatically gets fed to all of those in your friends list when they log in. Facebookers can this way update any number of people without writing - and reading - those piles of email.
I'm trying hard not to use geek speak when I talk about it and truthfully it’s not intimidating at all to do. Experiencing how different forms of connecting can benefit them, and even be fun, is how I hope to win people over to my anti email party.
Next I’ll approach blogs, twitter, all the rest. But only after showing them a good time in a casual way. So far, so good. Pssst - pass it on.

I like this idea. It still fits the basic premise of getting people to use new media and social tools. I think you've come up with a clever way to extend the conversation. Great!
