Direct Messages: Gift or Curse?
OK you've heard me on the topic of being overwhelmed & overstimulated. You've listened to my tales of woe about how e-mail, which used to be anticipated, is now dreaded. And don't even start me on newsgroups. (Just say NO)
So now comes Facebook which in spite of its charms - and for me it has many - also provides an opportunity for direct messages. And that's a good thing.
Until it becomes like another email account - more messages to deal with - and avoid.
Face it; the random blabbermouth can - and will - expound on ad infinitum through messages sent directly through any conduit available. Facebook messaging is the latest way I'm feeling the babble pressing in on me.
So although I love Facebook I'm still on the twitter bandwagon for networking with a healthy daily dose of community and connectivity. Plus the built-in limited message length of 140 characters on twitter encourages succinctness. Who ever thought I'd be a fan of limits?
I'm really a sweetie at heart, so don't be annoyed, and yes do connect with me on Facebook, just keep in mind my tolerance for incoming direct messages. I'm betting I'm not the only one feeling the overwhelm :^)
