Blog Snobs Don't Leave Comments
In a comment to Blog Snobbery 101. a very droll post from Ara Pehlivanian talking about making yourself look important by not allowing comments among other things, Sarven Capadisli writes:
"On the other side of the coin, there is snobbery by not leaving a comment."
And Sarven goes on to jokingly claim that if you comment you will encourage the blog author and having multiple comments will make the author look "cooler" implying that your aim might be to appear distant and uninvolved.
Comments are often are lots of fun for people to read. But tongue in cheek, Sarvan says:
"Although the commenter gains a little bit of link love, the trade of a back link versus a comment (acknowledging the existence and importance of an article) demonstrates the importance of the author. Of course, rest of the visitors view the amount of comments as a good indicator for this."
"He's a funny guy," I think. And so that makes me want to click through and find out who this Sarvin person is and what s/he does. Which just shows you how risky it is to leave comments.
Who knows what kind of potential reader / follower / friend / client / student / partner / fan / buyer could find you?

Hi Susan. Found your website via "Where Is Basil". I'm a new blogger and found someof your comments and suggestions very helpful. Oh...I lived in Sterling for 25 years. I remember when it wasn't much more than a wide spot in the road.
