Why People Blog
"Storytelling, not journalism, spurs most blogs" is the headline on a Reuters story about a new study from those Pew Trust folks who are always studying stuff so we don't have to.
Rex Hammock who is always a great source of information passes this on from a Reuters story and then comments that bloggers are
"observing, recording, entertaining, interpreting, screening, pointing to, calling out, casting out, body slamming, I could go on."
It seems as if there are as many reasons people blog as there are bloggers.
And some may not be sure why they do it.
But now as always, people like to share their thoughts, stories about what their kids say, photos of their new cel phone, thoughts on the world. And many of us like reading these bits and pieces of other lives. It's a nice give and take we've got going; readers and writers.
I wonder how many of us enjoy reading blogs where folks are called out, cast out or body slammed though. I know they exist - but I'm wondering what the future will bring for them.
For the record, I'll be the last blogger you find in that group. I'm beter at playing a more subtle game.
Observing I can do though. And I'll likely continue to feel the magnetic pull of a blog that tells a good story.
