It's A Sizzler
It's hot in DC. No, I mean really hot. And you know what they say: "it's not the heat; it's the humidity." The last I checked it was 84%. Why people - including me - are not in Nova Scotia, I don't kno
w.
In fact Steve Roberts suggests that "the United States should establish a new summer capitol, preferably someplace cool and pleasant like, say, Seattle." Sounds good to me - if we all get to go.
But instead, more and more people are heading our way via new residents - and tourists.Wayan at DC Metro Blog says that in the city itself, which I avoid from May through August, the population increased by 31,528 from 2000 to 2005. I think they're outnumbered by tourists this week.
Bill from the INDC Journal says that "one would hope - as a slight upside - that the sun's merciless forge would at least drive the tourists away." I'm not thinking that's happening anytime soon.

Wayan, Better you than me - but I'm glad you came in from the heat long enough to read and say hi. Thanks!

You avoid the city between May and August? This is my favorite time! Its hot and sweaty, just like I like it, and no one is around, so I have the whole city to myself.
I couldn't be happier! Wait, yes I could, I could be at the pool instead of at the computer. Time to go!
