Whiner that I am, while marveling at the amount of stuff Tulip Hill Studio artist and publisher Carole Pivarnik's gets done (check out her blog and meet Carole here) I also have to complain about how unproductive I've been and how I fell asleep yesterday morning after breakfast.
But - no matter how lousy I was performing there are a couple of accomplishments over the past week or so I'm not able to "but" away.
The tag cloud thing has been niggling at me for literally months and this week it's finally working on my blogs. Whatever it was that I was using first - and honestly it's been so long ago I don't remember - gave me fits; and here comes my famous "but". . . .
. . . BUT after discovering zoomclouds I'm really pleased with how easy it was to configure, drop the code that it built for me into a typepad type-list, then drag and drop it to the spot I wanted it in the typepad layout map. Whhoooooeeee, you know?
Having an opportunity to participate in the Habits Highly of Successful Bloggers writing project spawned by Darren Rowse of problogger net was enjoyable and I was happy to expound on the topic. Oh you're so surprised; right?
I got my Blue Star family link up properly (I think) and want to take the opportunity
this Memorial Day weekend to salute all of the other men and women of the US Armed Forces who are sacrificing every day to serve their country around the world. And an equally heartfelt thank you to the families who support them.
That puts into perspective my more pedestrian accomplishment like finding Who Linked, which allows me to have that spiffy silver box at the left that tells you us talking about me. But that is a fun one I admit. Kinda like a free pass to read your sister's diary.
Admittedly this wasn't this week that Liz Strauss dubbed me an SOB
(no, not that! A Successful and Outstanding Blogger) it's just that it's only now that I got the message. So can I count it on the accomplishment list?
And now on a roll of self-congrats, I can pat myself on the back for being ahead of schedule on Illustration Friday for the second week - in spite of the falling asleep thing - but - I held off on submitting the piece for this week because - get this - last week when I submitted earlier in the day I got less traffic than normal. Hmmm. Sometimes I actually SEE the pattern before it hits me over the head. Now I don't know if it means anything but it was interesting. We'll see.
"Inspire Me Thursday" was new to me - or at least new to the brain cells that are still at work. Their theme this week - Word Art - did get me inspired. And although the finished piece - Veiled - didn't develop the way I had envisioned, I believe in letting the work lead the way and was pleased in the end. It's something in which I hope to participate whenever I can.
So I guess the bottom line is that I did no laundry but I made a statement about my pride in being he parent of a Service Member, made some art and produced blog bits.
OH! And the last time I checked, I was in third place on the Gather.com evangelization leader board. I like Gather as a platform and free place to show off photos - and I don't mind saying so and urging other people to give it a try. And then there's that little issue of people seeming to like snooping through each other's vacation and kid's photos and reading other people's thoughts on random issues from how to make lemon pie to who's the worst of the current politicians.
If you have a minute or two, come'on over. Grab a cool drink and kick back for while this Memorial Day weekend. You deserve it.
