Winning Ideas Apply Across Fields
Sometimes I'm an artist, sometimes a consultant, and probably running through it all a heavy vein of creative marketer. But no matter what hat I'm wearing, the more bloggers I "meet" the more I see that we have a lot to learn from one another. And beyond that, if we open our minds to it, this learning is applicable across a broad swath of careers and specialties.
So today I wasn't surprised when reading the commentary on a Wall Street Journal article focusing on bosses who mess with employee's work. Even without employees, I think I've just recognized myself in my fellow LinkedIn Blogger Laura Ricci's article.
When I read the observations in Laura's blog I flashed back to Monday when artist Blue Jude wrote her first blog entry draft and submited it for the Museum Blog. Before she saw it again, I'd done a serious edit, leaving Jude with major chunks missing but a "bloggier" feel to the article.
In the intervening two days we've learned a little about how the other person thinks - and - In the end instead of that initial one piece the Museum blog got a piece that was published today and part two which is in process. But that's because my fellow artist-author wants to learn the blogging ropes and isn't easily discouraged.
How much more productive I'd have been if I had previously put together some guidelines and tips about blog contribution and what I'm looking for.
As Laura points out
"As with most things in work groups, each party can chose to contribute to the solution, or become a victim of the problem."
Aha. I'm thinking that I need to check in on Laura's blog as she builds it further. With a track record like supporting good people doing great things, like winning $750 million in new contracts, and a name like Laura's Winning Ideas, how can it miss?
