Do Artists Share an ADHD Chip with Enterpreneurs?
Dave Taylor shared some thoughts on entrepreneurship and ADHD that I thought were inspired. Then it dawned on me that he had come right out and said that he borrowed the thoughts from entrepreneur and blogger Pete Quily.
So they were inspired - inspired by Pete.
Pete by the way is like Dave in that he is both funny and smart. And Pete blogs a good assortment of entries in the same vein, saying about them:
If you like this article you may want to read more posts in my ADD Strengths Category in the sidebar, or my 151 Advantages of ADD, no double blind studies were hurt in the collection process.
OK, I was particularly amused by the double blind line. Back when he still spoke to me my son-in-law contended - and not in a nice way - that I'm very easily amused.
I plead guilty. If you can't laugh you may cry. I chose laughing. And on a regular basis.
But back to the point, which is appropriately enough ADHD. Pete points out that the following aspects of ADHD that may be helpful when entrepreneurs "suffer" from them.
1. The Ability to Hyperfocus
2. Rapid Fire Mind
3. Multitasking at Will
4. High Energy Level
5. Highly Creative
6. Quick Learner
7. Stimulus Seeking Brain
8. Constantly Scanning your Environment
9. Great in a Crisis
10. Risk Taker
I think he's got some great points. And I think lots of artists, especially offbeat and mixed media artists like me might fall into the same category. What do you think?
